The mission of sharing the gospel often requires crossing more than just cultural boundariesโit sometimes requires crossing the open sea. FromJanuary 30 to February 1, 2026, the teams from Adventist World Radio (AWR) and Hope Channel Southern Mindanao did exactly that, embarking on a meaningful journey to the remote shores of Balut Island. This visit to Mabila, Sarangani, was far more than a routine check-in; it was a powerful gesture of solidarity, proving to the local believers that no matter how isolated they may feel geographically, they are an essential and cherished part of the global Adventist family. The team arrived with a simple but profound purpose: to bring a “shared hope” that resonates across the waves and anchors itself in the hearts of the islanders.

A significant spiritual milestone of the trip was the formal installation ceremony of a new local pastor. Church leaders, community members, and the visiting media crew gathered in a spirit of worship and prayer to affirm this new chapter of leadership for the islandโs congregation. The ceremony served as a reminder that local leadership is the backbone of the church’s mission, and having a dedicated shepherd on the ground is vital for continued spiritual growth. During the program, the AWR and Hope Channel teams shared how media ministry acts as a “silent messenger,” providing tools for evangelism and discipleship that can reach homes long after the visitors have sailed away.

The impact of the visit was felt in the renewed energy of the community, as members were encouraged to utilize radio and television platforms to keep the fire of biblical truth burning bright. Many attendees expressed that the presence of the mission team brought a fresh sense of unity and inspiration, reminding them that they are never truly alone in their faith. As the team departed the shores of Balut Island, they left behind more than just resources; they left a strengthened local leadership and a community empowered to be a beacon of hope in the middle of the sea, ensuring that the message of Christ’s love reaches every corner of the archipelago.
