The start of a new quinquennium is always a season of fresh vision, and for the youth leadership of the Southern Mindanao Mission (SMM), that vision was ignited during a powerful two-day gathering on January 30โ31, 2026. Over 124 district Adventist Youth leaders converged at the SMM Headquarters in General Santos City for a weekend dedicated to fellowship, mentorship, and intensive leadership training. This was more than just an administrative hand-off; it was a sacred passing of the torch. Facilitated by the outgoing AYM leaders, the event ensured that the wisdom gained from years of service was shared with the newly elected officers, creating a seamless transition built on continuity and mutual support as they prepared to lead for the next five years.

The atmosphere was one of deep spiritual focus, guided by the counsel of Pastor Nelo Seda Jr. from the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission and Pastor Edilberto Tangayan Jr. of the Southern Mindanao Mission. Their messages centered on the idea that leadership within the church is a “sacred trust,” calling the young leaders to embrace a life of servant leadership and unwavering faithfulness. This sentiment was echoed in the timeless words of Ellen G. White, reminding the attendees that the worldโs greatest need is for people of unshakeable integrityโthose whose hearts are as true to duty as the needle to the pole. The training emphasized that being a leader isn’t about a title but about being spiritually grounded and mission-driven in service to both the church and the local community.
As the fellowship concluded with the election of new officers, a palpable sense of unity and renewed purpose filled the room. These leaders are not just stepping into administrative roles; they are committing to nurture a generation of Christ-centered young people who will move the mission forward. With a solid foundation of mentorship and a clear focus on the “blessed hope” of Christโs return, the Southern Mindanao Mission Adventist Youth leadership moves forward with a commitment to stand for the right and serve humanity with the same passion they discovered during this landmark training weekend.
