The Southern Mindanao Mission of Seventh-day Adventists recently hosted a week-long event for children and families at the beautiful Lake Sebu Adventist Training Center. The event, held from April 21-26, 2025, was a huge success.
The Ministerial Spouses and Children Ministries of the Southern Mindanao Mission organized the event, with Jill Palomares-SePUM at the helm. As the South Eastern Philippine Union Mission MSA Coordinator and Children’s Ministries Director, she brought her expertise and passion to the program. The event aimed to nurture the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of both kids and families. It was a holistic approach that recognized the importance of caring for the whole person.

During the Children’s Hour, young participants engaged in fun and interactive activities that taught them about God’s love and character building. The sessions were designed to be practical and applicable to daily Christian living. The children learned valuable lessons that will stay with them for a lifetime. They were encouraged to develop a personal relationship with God and to live out their faith in their daily lives.
Meanwhile, parents and guardians attended the Health Family Life Lectures, where they learned about family health, life management, and faith-centered parenting strategies. The sessions were informative and inspiring, providing valuable insights and practical tips.
The lectures emphasized the importance of building strong family relationships and creating a nurturing environment that fosters spiritual growth. Parents were encouraged to be intentional about spending quality time with their children and to prioritize their family’s well-being. Through inspiring talks and interactive sessions, families were encouraged to grow stronger together in Christ. The event reinforced the vital role of the home as the first mission field, where parents can model Christian values and teach their children about God’s love. The event was not just about learning new things; it was also about building relationships and community. Families bonded over shared experiences and activities, creating lasting memories and connections.

Lake Sebu Adventist Training Center provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The natural beauty of the area seemed to enhance the spiritual experience, creating a sense of peace and tranquility. The week-long event was a testament to the power of community and the importance of investing in the next generation. It showed that when families come together, they can achieve great things and grow stronger in their faith. And Southern Mindanao Mission is committed to supporting families and children in their spiritual journey. Events like this one demonstrate their dedication to nurturing the whole person and promoting healthy family relationships.
As the event came to a close, families left feeling inspired and encouraged. They had learned new skills, made new friends, and deepened their relationships with God and each other.
The impact of the event will be felt for weeks and months to come, as families continue to grow and thrive in their faith. It’s a reminder that spiritual growth is a journey, not a destination. Southern Mindanao Mission plans to continue hosting events like this one, recognizing the importance of investing in the spiritual well-being of children and families.
